MODEL # : JC-1401P3A MODEL NAME: MultiSync (Original) Question: Can I use my JC-1401P3A on a VGA video card? Answer: Yes, you can use the JC-1401P3A on a VGA card with several caveats. Please be aware that with the original NEC MultiSync monitor you may experience vertical rolling with VGA cards. The reason for this is that the MultiSync (Original) was introduced approximately 5 years ago, well before the VGA standard existed. The monitor has a vertical refresh rate of 60Hz, where the current array of VGA cards out in the market will sometimes shift their vertical refresh rate therefore creating a rolling effect of the image on screen. VGA cards that maintain a 60Hz refresh rate will not encounter this problem. VGA cards from Paradise are highly recommended because they already incorporate a switch that will hardware set the card for 60Hz. Also considering that the JC1401P3A was produced about 5 years ago there is no auto-sizing or auto-centering feature, so the VGA image may be slightly smaller and will need to have the screen size adjusted from VGA text to VGA graphics modes. All of these adjustments can be made on the control panel on the top of the monitor. To run your VGA card with the MultiSync (JC-1401P3A) you will require a 9-15 pin cable adapter.
