Lazer Tag Team Ops
Prototypes:
There were two main sets of prototypes for this project, not counting the various breadboards built to test different aspects of the system.6 hand-built prototypes were created by us at Shoot The Moon, while 24 more were built by Hasbro Far East Ltd, Tiger's manufacturing arm in China. I don't have a photo of the STM versions available at the moment, so for now I will just show the HFE version:
Production:
In production, these are a green and a brown color scheme -- both consisting of a combination of metalic "earth tone" type colors (my own description, and I'm no interior decorator!):
I'll be publishing a lot more about these later, including some photos of cool variants on the color schemes, as time permits.
Here are some images of the new and improved HUD, which feels MUCH better on most people. The new model is the orange one on the left, with an old model in green on the right for comparison. Please note that the color is not production, this was a sample to verify the molds were correctly designed.Let's start with a top view:
Here they are from a more sideways view:
Notice that the bumps that used to poke into your temples have been eliminated. In addition, the goggles are re-shaped to a flatter shape across the face, which better matches most peoples' heads. The part that goes over the ears has been reshaped and shortened and the webbing strap lengthened, so that you don't have to pull it so tight to get it to stay on your head (makes it much more comfortable). I still find that I need to grind off a bit of the bridge right where it sits on my nose, to eliminate the sharp edge. But that might just be because I have a very large honker.
