I am not sure if this ever went into full production, but I don't beleive it did.
The original TLT "Striker" simply relied on the beam angle of the IR-LED, which was about +/- 8 degrees. This was in response to a lot of feedback we had received early on that younger kids were too easily discouraged by their inability to hit the target with a system as tight-beam as the Worlds of Wonder system, which was about +/- 1.5 degrees.
Unfortunately, you can never please everyone -- though the younger kids liked the wide angle of the Tiger Lazer Tag, serious players found it to be much too "sloppy", and not requiring of enough skill to hold their interest. In addition, they wanted it to have more range than the roughly 100 feet which the original model provided.
Although we ultimately went with the larger "Stryker" model that most people are familiar with (it had the detachable sensor which could be worn on the body), we did also produce this version of the original model. The lens narrowed the beam to about +/- 2.5 degrees and approximately doubled the range.
